Together with two partners, Upwert and Grönbusiness from the Kiel region, CCC Kiel partners Anscharcampus & Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung Schleswig-Holstein ran an interactive booth at the “Kiel kann mehr” Festival on June 1, 2024.

With sunny weather and plenty of “passersby” along the Kiellinie, they were able to educate over 50 people about the circular economy and draw their attention to the topics of waste prevention and resource conservation in a playful way.

While the Kiel region visually presented the waste hierarchy and used a wheel of fortune to encourage people to take a closer look at a specific level of the hierarchy, UpWert complemented the offerings with a bike repair station and a DIY workshop on natural lemonade and ivy-based laundry detergent. In addition, Anscharcampus took the theme of our Creative Circular Cities project literally and worked creatively with participants to paint pictures on the topic of resource conservation. Citizens were asked to paint the item they had most recently thrown away, to paint a sea or forest filled with trash, or to draw their favorite animal and consider whether it is threatened by trash in its habitat. In addition, for those who preferred a creative approach to language, there was an opportunity to come up with slogans promoting greater resource conservation.

Thanks to these different approaches taken by the tandem partners, it was possible to demonstrate that the circular economy is not an abstract concept, but one that can easily be found in everyday life, and that everyone can contribute to it.
