The Creative Circular Cities project will once again be part of the Waterkant Festival Kiel – one of the city’s leading festivals for innovation and future-oriented ideas. This year, the project is joining forces with Trash Galore to highlight practical approaches to circular resource use in the event sector.
Trash Galore, an innovative company based in Leipzig, rescues surplus materials from major events such as trade shows, festivals, and conferences and redistributes them directly to social, cultural, and creative initiatives – eliminating the need for intermediate storage. This year, materials from the OMR Festival found a second life at the Waterkant Festival, demonstrating how event resources can be effectively reused rather than discarded.
As part of the festival programme, Fabian Höffner, founder of Trash Galore, and Kirsten Müller from Anscharcampus will join the discussion to explore how materials, spaces, and partnerships can continue to create value long after an event has ended. The session will examine the conditions needed to establish reuse as the standard rather than the exception, showcasing the potential of collaboration to advance a more circular and sustainable event culture.
